For my Baba on his 60th birthday;
“Fawad” | Heart of Gold
If I could write a story
It would be the greatest ever told
I’d write about my Baba
For he has a heart of gold
My Baba, he is my hero
Known far across this land
His courage, his valour unmatched
For he is a lion amongst man
I’d write about the lessons
He taught me right from wrong
He instilled in me the values
That one day I’d be strong
He taught me to face my fears
Take each day as it comes
For there are things that we cannot change
He says “what’s done is done”
He says “hold your head up high”
Carry yourself with pride
Bow not to tyranny and injustice
Take adversity in your stride
He showed me how to lead
The true joie de vivre
Even I could not conceive
How unwavering his faith could be
He never looks for praise
He’s never one to boast
He’d rather work in silence
For those he loves the most
His dreams are seldom spoken
His wants are very few
His worries are mine to cherish
They shall go unspoken too
If I could write a story
It would be the greatest ever told
I’d write about Fawad
For he has a heart of gold
